June 2021 NEWSLETTER
LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR

Greetings!

We are open and you are back! It is so good to see you browsing again. Since you have been gone, we have recently said good-bye to a few members of our team, who will be missed very much. We wish them well! We have also welcomed a few new people, whom we are pleased to have on staff!

This month begins our ‘Tails & Tales” Summer Reading and Programming. Did you know that our staff begins serious preparation for summer in January? This summer, we are excited to offer many of our large-draw programs outside under a large event tent in our back parking lot. Thank you to the DS Youth Sports Association who will allow you to park in their lot this summer as you attend library programs. There will also be programming on our lovely, Texas-sized porch and in the circle area across the driveway from the front steps. Of course, we will still have some virtual programs, because we have learned that for some, this is a convenient way to participate with us. Please look at our “Calendar” tab on our website or pick up a printed June/July summer calendar at the library when you come.

DSCL is now receiving small donations of books (2 boxes) to keep our ongoing book sale fresh, as you have encouraged us to do. We also want you to know that we work closely with our Friends of Dripping Springs group who donates generously to us every year. This year we received $17,000.00 as a result of their significant efforts! This money always allows us to offer you amazing summer programming and more. The Friends are also having large book sales as one way to raise money for DSCL. They have a ‘big blue bin’ for book collection located at Sententia Vera Cultural Hub, at 4002 E. Hwy 290 @ Sunset Canyon Drive. If you have a significant number of books to donate (more than two boxes), please consider donating to the Friends!

We look forward to seeing you at our Library! How nice it is to say that again!

Marcia Atilano, Library Director
